    1. Laboratory of two-dimensional electrophoresis:  

PROTEAN IEF (BioRad) and PROTEAN i12 IEF Cell Systems (BioRad) (for isoelectric focusing (IEF) on immobilized pH gradient (IPG) strips). These systems can: 

  • run 1–12 IPG strips in 7, 11, 13, 17, 18, and 24 cm focusing trays
  • systems are comprised of a 10,000 V power supply with a Peltier temperature control platform
  • passive or active (50V) rehydration can be programmed as a separate method, or as the first step of a method.

PROTEAN plus Dodeca Cell System (BioRad) (for SDS-PAGE electrophoresis).  

  • runs up to 12 second-dimension gels for high throughput and reproducibility
  • accommodates a variety of gel sizes: 20 x 20.5 cm or 25 x 20.5 cm (W x L) and 1.0, 1.5, or 2.0 mm thick
  • its compatible with PROTEAN IEF and PROTEAN i12 IEF Cell Systems and with Dodeca Stainer Large 
  • equipped with recirculation pump provide efficient cooling of 12 gels

Dodeca Stainer Large (BioRad) (for 2-D gel staining) 

  • accommodate up to 12 large format gels
  • ensures high-quality, consistent staining results and eliminates gel breakage,
  • compatible with colorimetric and fluorescent dyes 

GS 800 Calibrated Densitometer (BioRad) (for imaging of 2-D electrophoresis gels) 

  • it ensures resolution of 36,3 – 127 µm 
  • scanning area 29 x 40 cm 
  • enables for imaging of a wide variety of samples such as 1-D and 2-D gels, colorimetric dot and slot blots, film-based chemiluminescent blots

2.       Mass spectrometry laboratory:

EXQuest Spot Cutter (BioRad) (for automated excision of individual protein spots) 

  • offers delivery of up to 600 spots per hour
  • compatible with bioinformatic tool PDQuest(for 2-D gels) and Quantity One(for 1-D gels) 
  • high reproducibility of cutting (99,5%)
  • resolution of 100 μm for cutting precision  
  • automated gel hydration to ensure gel integrity

MALDI-TOF mass spectrometer microflex (Bruker Daltonics). It is equipped with:

  • microScout Ion Source with state-of-the-art pulsed ion extraction
  • nitrogen laser with variable repetition rate
  • high resolution reflectron configuration
  • MS/MS capability with auto PSD (automated post-source decay)

Bioinformatic tools: 

    • PDQuest 8.0. Advanced, 
    • Quantity One, 
    • flexControl, 
    • flexAnalysis,
    • BioTools 

These programs allow for i.a. : spot detection and matching, identifying the differences in protein profiles, statistical analysis, bioinformatic analysis and interpreting the mass spectra.
